Trainer's Room
Wednesday night's blowout win over Calgary was an expensive one for the Ducks. Goalie Frederik Andersen suffered a concussion and will not dress tonight. There is no word on the extent of the injury or a time frame for his return.
Lately, it seems as though the Ducks are running a revolving door to the medical staff.
Hampus Lindholm is ill, and he is out tonight as well.
We now officially know that David Perron has a separated shoulder. He will return in two to four weeks. That time frame like has him on the sidelines through the first round of the playoffs.
Rickard Rakell has appendicitis. The team says he is out a week. If you remember, last season Ryan Getzlaf had an appendectomy. He returned in just over a week, but it took him a few additional weeks to get up to speed.
Kevin Bieksa remains out of the lineup with an UBI.
Simon Despres is also still sidelined. He has a concussion. There is no timetable for his return.
To sum up, Fifty percent of the expected defense corps are out. A third of the top six is injured. Finally, half of the Ducks outstanding goalie tandem won't play either.
Vancouver @ Ducks
The Ducks host Vancouver tonight at the Pond. A win tonight puts the Ducks back into first place in the Pacific Division. In addition, winning should also lock up at least a second place finish.
Both Anton Khudobin and Chris Wagner were recalled from San Diego to fill lineup holes. With Rakell out, Corey Perry will more than likely move back onto Getzlaf's line. John Gibson will start in goal. Here is the expected lineup:
