Finally, it's official.
The Avalanche on Friday announced that they have signed left-shooting Russian defenseman Andrei Mironov to a two-year, entry-level contract.
Mironov, 22, was their fourth-round pick (No. 101) in the 2015 NHL draft. The 6-feet-3, 194-pound Moscow native spent the past five seasons with Dynamo Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League.
Mironov had one goal, three assists, 10 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating in 18 games this season, with three assists and four penalty minutes in nine playoff games. He had 12 goals, 28 assists and 93 penalty minutes in 196 regular-season games, with two goals, eight assists and 30 penalty minutes in 54 playoff games.
Mironov is playing for his native country in the IIHF World Championships and has four shots, two penalty minutes and a minus-3 rating in four games.
He won a silver medal for Russia in the 2015 World Championships, and bronze medals in the 2013 and 2014 World Junior Championships.
The Avalanche need significant improvement in a number of areas following a 48-point season in 2016-17. Mironov will obviously get a very long look in training camp.
