Kane Misses Eichel

Welcome to "Shark Week".

It's my favorite week of TV ever.

What not to love about watching 18 foot Great Whites terrorizing nerdy, 5'7" and 150 lb. marine biologists in their own natural habitat?

I have a confession to make:

I ate the bait hook, line and stinker on the lame ass Michael Phelps vs. Great White Shark hype.

Midway through watching Phelps "race" a CG version of Great White while swimming with a mermaid fin on his feet, while in 56 degree shark infested waters.

I zoned out. Talk about boring.

Just then, Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane went live on his Instagram account during the Phelps-vs-Shark drama. Thank gawd.

Kane said he was spending a few days with friends at the cottage in The Muskokas, two plus hours north of Toronto

Kane's chat started with Evander pledging his undying devotion for a certain brand of root beer.

The convo go deeper when Kane embarked on Q and A about Lebron James leaking the story about Kyrie Irving leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The conversation then shifted to an upset Kane longing to speak with his friend and line mate Jack Eichel. Kane lamented that Eichel refuses to respond to his snap chat stories.

Kane said he swam a half mile on Sunday afternoon. The power forward said he is feeling great physically. However, emotionally speaking, Kane misses his bro Jack Eichel.

Kane appealed to Eichel by saying he would write his 2017-18 Hart Trophy speech right now.

Kane said that he sees Eichel scoring 120 points next season. Kane said forty of the points would come from assists on EK9's 40 goals scored.

Kane will be UFA on July 1, 2018. If Kane scores 40Gs in his contract season, he will re-brand himself as a $7 million AAV man. Kane, 26, will be looking for a 6 or 7 year contract moving forward. He will be too rich for Buffalo's blood and Sabres GM Jason Botterill will be tasked with having to trade Kane for premium assets at the appropriate time.

For now, remarkably quiet and reserved Kane will continue to lay low in Muskoka and Vancouver. I swear, if Kane didn't live chat on Instagram once a week during this summer, I would have forgotten about him. Kane has been a model citizen off the ice this summer. He deserves credit for staying out of the off ice dramatics that he has been at the center of in the recent past.

Kane also quipped that if he's not on a line with Eichel, he'd have no problem skating with "Larry" Larsson. This was a clear chirp at former Sabres bench boss Dan Bylsma who in December, moved Kane away from Eichel and Reinhart and played him on the third line with Larsson.

Eichel responded to Kane during his impromptu chat. Eichel told Kane to text him. Evander wants his bro to respond via snap chat. Jack isn't budging.
