Maple Leafs to ice their opening roster tonight? |

|
The Leafs have completed half of their preseason games and will be hosting the Montreal Canadiens at the Ricoh Coliseum.
The Leafs lost their first two games against Ottawa and then won their next two against Buffalo. Montreal has lost all four of their games and will be icing a decent lineup tonight as well as it looks like they will have their first three lines prepared up front.
With the lack of success the Leafs have had against the Canadiens over the years it would be great if Toronto returned the favor with a handful of beat downs on the scoreboard this season. The Leafs have lost 14 games in a row to the Canadiens, of course most of those losses were before most of these players were on the team. Nevertheless it’s time for the Leafs to end this streak and give Montreal a taste of their own medicine.
There is a good chance the top three lines will stay as it and as well as the top four defense. There will be a lot of focus on Aaltonen, Rosen and Carrick tonight as those are the three positions to be battled for.
Could this be a big showing for Calle Rosen as he is paired up with Carrick on the third pairing? I think so, look for Rosen to strut his stuff tonight with a quality performance.
The Leafs top 9 forwards are excellent, one of the most solid in the league. There is depth and then some which is great in case the injury bug were to hit the Leafs. They have the option to move Connor Brown up from the fourth line, one of Moore or Aaltonen to play in the bottom six center positions. Both Leivo and Kapanen can fill in on the wings and there is plenty of other talent that will be ripening.
Expect the Leafs to come out the gates tonight flying, here are tonight’s rosters:
Toronto:
Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
JVR-Bozak-Marner
Marleau-Kadri-Komarov
Martin-Aaltonen-Brown
