Returning home to the American Airlines Center, Ken Hitchcock's Dallas Stars (7-6-0) play host to Phil Housley's Buffalo Sabres (4-7-2) on Saturday night. Game time is 7 p.m. CDT. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
Dallas finished its recent five-game road trip with a 2-3-0 record. They bring a 4-1-0 home record into this tilt.
On Thursday night, the Stars lost in Winnipeg, 5-2. Alexander Radulov (5th) and Mattias Janmark (3rd) scored for the Stars. Ben Bishop stopped 22 of 26 shots -- including a late third period penalty shot by Kyle Conner -- in a losing effort. The game also saw a spirited fight between Stars captain Jamie Benn and Winnipeg defenseman Dustin Byfuglien early in the second period as well as one between Gemel Smith and Brendan Lemieux in the first.
The Stars' lineup will be without both Martin Hanzal (lower-body injury) and Nick Ritchie (upper-body injury) on Saturday. Kari Lehtonen is expected to get the start in goal.
On Thursday, the Sabres won for just the fourth time this season, downing the lowly Arizona Coyotes (1-12-1) in Glendale. It wasn't easy, though, as a 5-1 lead shrank to 5-4 in the third period before the Sabres held on for the win.
For Buffalo, Justin Bailey (lower body, day-to-day) is questionable for Saturday's game. The team has multiple players on the injured reserve list: defensemen Zach Bogosian (lower body) and Josh Gorges (lower body), forwards Jacob Josefson (lower body) and Evan Rodrigues (hand injury).
