The Dallas Stars had little trouble dispatching the New York Islanders, 5-0, at the American Airlines Center on Saturday night. In perhaps the Stars' best 60-minute performance of the season, the Stars dominated most of the night.

John Klingberg (4th goal, two assists), Gemel Smith (1st), Esa Lindell (4th, one assist), Mattias Janmark (shorthanded, 4th) and, breaking a season-long goal drought, Jason Spezza (power play, 1st) scored for Dallas. Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, Alexander Radulov, Martin Hanzal and Dan Hamhuis collected one apple apiece for Dallas.

The Stars built a 3-0 lead by the first intermission and then a five-goal cushion by the time the game was 36 minutes old. Dallas outshot New York by a 13-4 margin in the first period, 10-6 in the middle frame and 6-4 in the third period.

Ben Bishop breezed to a 14-save shutout (his first as a Star) to earn the win. Jaroslav Halak (24 saves on 29 shots) absorbed the loss for New York. The Stars went 1-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill plus Janmark's shorthanded goal as a bonus.

With the win, Dallas improved to 9-7-0 on the season, and 6-2-0 on home ice. On Monday, the Stars are in Raleigh to take on the Carolina Hurricanes. Game time is 6 p.m. CT. The match will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
