The Dallas Stars managed to stay with the NHL-leading Tampa Bay Lightning for nearly the first 25 minutes but the visiting side soon succumbed to a barrage of Tampa goals to fall, 6-1, on Thursday night. The Stars finished their eastern road trip with a 0-2-1 record.

Steven Stamkos led the offensive barrage for Tampa, notching his 9th (power play) and 10th goals of the season as well as his 24th and 25th assists. Nikita Kutcherov notched his 17th goal of the campaign as well as his 15th assist. Mikhail Sergachev (5th), Brayden Point (shorthanded, 5th), and Jake Dotchkin (2nd) also scored for Tampa. Andrei Vasilevskiy earned the win as he stopped 27 of 28 shots.

Tampa won for the fifth straight time. The club improved to 15-2-2 overall and 8-1-1 at Amalie Arena.

Radek Faksa (3rd) tallied the lone Dallas goal as he blocked a shot and scored on a breakaway. Former Tampa goalie Ben Bishop stopped 22 of 28 shots to absorb the loss. With the defeat, Dallas dropped to 9-9-1 on the season and 3-7-1 on the road.

Bishop kept the game scoreless through the first period despite a 13-6 shot edge for Tampa. In the second period, Stamkos and Faksa traded off early goals but then Tampa pulled away with five unanswered goals. It was 3-1 by the end of the second period -- Point's shorthanded tally was a dagger in Dallas' hopes. The Bolts then added three extra goals in the final stanza.

The Stars return home on Saturday to host the Edmonton Oilers (7-10-2).
