So after Chester and I hammered out the details yesteray... (ok... We didn't really hammer anything out, just kind of thought out loud in two or three posts on yesterday's blog) It has been decided that since we do have an abundance of knowledgeable Flames fans on this site it would be a great idea to have a way for some of the other fans to get more exposure than the myhockeybuzz already gives them. So here is my(our) idea: Send in your blogs or comments to
[email protected]. The idea is that once a week, I'm thinking Sunday. I will post a "submitted blog of the week".
Of course this will all depend on the response by all of you, so get your fingers going and get some blogs up. Since my next blog will be a pre-season analysis of the Flames and their off-season moves, I thought that it would be a good place for everyone to start. And since there may be a wide range of opinions, we may post more than one or even post portions of many to show the range of opinions on what should be an interesting topic with the changes that have been made.
The following is Flamestr's first entry to be posted here, read, enjoy, comment and if the mood strikes you, send in your own thoughts.
Have a great day!

THE PERFECT PLAYER - By Flamestr
If I was asked to build the perfect Flame, what exactly would he look like? I decided to answer this question here. I will base my answer on following categories: Head, Upper Body, Hands, Heart, and Legs. I will reveal who I think is the best representative of each part on the current roster, to make it more interesting. I will limit myself to not using a player more than once. Now that you know my criteria please bear with me as I build the perfect Flame.
Head
Must be hockey smart, must know when to pass and when to shoot. Even more than that, he must aware of his surroundings; he must know where his wingers and defensemen are, and also where his opponents are. He must be able to think on his feet without any hesitation and be able to plan ahead several steps a time. The ability to think fast is an essential part of being the perfect Flame. My best representative of the perfect head on the Flames is Kristian Huselius.
Upper Body
Must be strong, be able to dig the puck out of harm's way and be able to take a hit and keep moving. Hit anyone that moves and hit hard. If you are hit by the perfect Flame, then you know you have been hit. Must be able throw bodies out of the way so his goalie can see the shot or the puck or just plain see. My closest answer to the perfect Upper Body is Dion Phaneuf. Well duh - you really can’t be that surprised, can you?
Hands
Next, he must have the perfect hands. They must be quick, shooting the puck as soon as an opportunity presents itself. Shooting so fast that the opposing goalie has no time to react. The hands must be strong so one can handle one self when called upon. The perfect Flame must have perfect hands that are deadly with a stick. The best representative for perfect Hands is Jerome Iginla.
Legs
The perfect Flame must have legs of steel. They must be strong. More important, they have to be fast. He must be able to pull away from a defenseman for that break away or race to a loose puck. He must be able to be long lasting, be able to take that long extra shift if need be to give his team mates a break. The best representative for perfect legs is Mathew Lombardi.
Heart
He must have the heart of a lion. If someone needs a pick-me-up, he is there. If there is a need for a butt-kicking, he is the one for that too. The perfect Flame has to have a desire to win and win at all costs. If there is a way to win, he will find a way to do it. The fans must love him and treat him like he is the best thing since sliced bread. The best representative for perfect heart is Craig Conroy.
There you have it. Is there a perfect player currently on the Flames? Not a chance. But the Flames don’t need a perfect player, just a perfect team. You have heard that there is no "I" in Team. In order for the Flames to succeed, everyone has to succeed, including the players I have mentioned. To win this season, the Flames will have to perform as a finely tuned machine.
