Sabres sweep through western Canada |

Who are these guys?
The Buffalo Sabres spent their time before the All-Star break romping through western Canada leaving many, especially those of us who've been following them closely, asking that same question.
Prior to the trip, the Sabres were 11-26-9, tied for last place in the entire league with 31 points and looking like they were on a one-way ticket to high odds of winning the NHL draft lottery. The team had dropped an embarrassing 7-1 decision to the Dallas Stars and looked every bit the bottom feeder they were before their trip.
For some reason, however, they put it all together with a 2-1 overtime win in Calgary, followed with a smashing the Edmonton Oilers 5-0 and finished with a 4-0 thrashing of the Vancouver Canucks last night.
Yes, you read that right.
The Sabres are touting and new reality, but too bad there's the All-Star break is coming up and they'll be off until Tuesday when they face off against the New Jersey Devils, which will be a good test. The Sabres suffered an embarrassing 6-2 defeat at home in their third game of the season against the Devils and if is the new Sabres, perhaps they'll be able to play the same successful style they used in Canada at home.
For too many years we've been seeing the Sabres try to be too cute at home and end up falling flat on their faces.
Perhaps they learned something.
Happy All-Star break, everyone.
I'm on vacation.
See y'all next week.
