Game 7 Primer: Toronto Maple Leafs vs Boston Bruins

When it’s game seven everything changes. Past stats mean nothing, whether it was last week or last year. It’s simply a hockey game now between two teams. The difference is, everything is on the line and the winner moves on and the loser is sent home packing and cleaning their lockers for the summer.

Tonight’s game will no doubt be a battle. The Bruins have home ice advantage but the Leafs clearly have the momentum and confidence up. Can you feel it?

Leafs got this.

Matthews is overdue for a game breaker when he ignites and torches Rask with a couple of lasers into the back of the net. He’s hungry out there and you know you can only keep big Auston out of the goals column for so long. That’s who Boston has been focussing on and I’m really hoping this is the game number 34 breaks out and light the lamp.

Leafs Nation will erupt tonight; the square is going to be electric.

William Nylander popped in a rebound last game, it was a huge goal for the Leafs and an even bigger goal for the Leafs youngster. Willy is going to get a boost of confidence from that goal and you can bet he will be even more dangerous tonight. It’s the pure skill players like Nylander who tend to struggle in the playoffs when they are young where as you see players who player a more grinding style like Hyman standout.

The Leafs speed is unmatched.

Frederik Andersen…just wow. Guy is on fire. His stats are decent but his goaltending has been excellent. Freddie has made a handful of saves each game that were next level. The desperation factor is huge in Andersen; he never gives up on a shot or rebound. A couple highlight reel stick saves when swiping the puck out of the air, he’s heating up at the right time.

Keep the dirt bags away from our goalie; Backes, Marchand were looking at you.

Sorry Uncle Leo, we do love you but sad to say your time is up for this series. The lines are rolling, the Leafs are looking dangerous with four powerful, speedy lines. I can only imagine this is the route Babcock will take; it just makes the most sense that he doesn’t change the personnel when things are clicking.

This will be redemption from the last time they met in game 7.

Mitch Marner has been an absolute force. He’s been the Leafs best offensive player but also very responsible at both ends of the ice. I’ve seen lMarner lay a few good hits, grind the puck out, you name it he does it. His vision is unlike anything the Leafs have seen in years, I simply can’t name another player who had the vision that Mitch does. Don’t change anything Marner, just keep playing your game and the Leafs will have a better chance to win.

I want Tampa Bay round 2!

Enjoy the game tonight, here is my prediction:

Leafs 4, Bruins 2

Go Leafs Go!
