The Avalanche on Tuesday announced they have signed forward Igor Shvyrev to a three-year, entry-level contract beginning in the 2018-19 season.

Shvyrev, 19, was the Avalanche’s fifth-round pick (No. 125) in the 2017 NHL draft. He split time with the Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL and Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk of Russia’s junior league, the MHL, this past season.

A 6-feet-1, 192-pound center, Shvyrev had 17 points (five goals, 12 assists) in 10 games with Stalnye Lisy. He had one goal in 32 games with Metallurg and no points in three playoff games.

The Magnitogorsk, Russia, native played for Metallurg and Stalnye Lisy for the past four seasons and totaled 133 points (39 goals, 94 assists) in 113 career MHL games with 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 20 playoff games.

Shvyrev competed at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament when Russia won the bronze medal.

The defending ECHL champion Colorado Eagles will play the winner of the Toledo/Fort Wayne second-round playoff series in the Western Conference finals.

The Eagles, who will be the Avalanche’s AHL affiliate starting in 2018-19, swept the Idaho Steelheads in their best-of-seven second-round series, Goalie Joe Cannata made 47 saves and Drayson Bowman scored in overtime for a 1-0 series-clinching win.

The Eagles will compete in the Pacific Division in their inaugural AHL season with the Bakersfield Condors (Edmonton), Ontario Reign (Los Angeles), San Diego Gulls (Anaheim), San Jose Barracuda (San Jose), Stockton Heat (Calgary) and Tucson Roadrunners (Arizona).
