The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim

The Anaheim Ducks are gearing up for their 25th anniversary season and all signs point to a return of the Mighty Ducks.

Anaheim has been teasing a new third jersey which may include the old masked duck logo and throwback games, including opening the season versus the Detroit Red Wings - exactly 25 years after dropping the first puck in franchise history against that very same team.

While most of this is hearsay, the Ducks have been teasing their fans with 90's themed videos and other little nuggets to whet the appetite.

At this point it's all speculation but all of can agree the old logo trumps the new logo ten fold. While it remains to be seen if the original colors return it would be a nice cap tip to jersey concept that screamed " I was born in the early 90's and I like to wear colors that don't match!"

The new logo and uni's are so blah in comparison. Let's hope the old becomes new again.

I'm about to make a hard left turn.

Does anybody else realize the 25th anniversary marketing blitz is masking the deafening silence coming out of Anaheim?

More than just the jersey needs a makeover for the Ducks. I expect that to change soon, but it is a bit odd. They weren't even part of the Ilya Kovalchuk California road show. The NHL draft is tonight and anything should be on the table for this team. Agree?

Per Cap Friendly, Anaheim has 17 players under contract with a little less than $14 million in cap space. The NHL announced the salary cap will rise to $79.5 million for the 2018-19 season. Time to get to work Mr. Murray.

Anaheim has seven picks in the draft. Should be a fun weekend.
