I really liked Columbus buying low on Anthony Duclair.
Last season he averaged a very respectable 1.64 points per 60 at 5v5 and his teams controlled a larger share of the shot attempts, goals, and expected goals with him on the ice.
If Duclair does that again in 2018-19, he'll be great value at $650K. If he takes a step forward, he'll be fantastic value.
In betting on a talented, driven player like Duclair there is little risk with potential for a big reward. This is a tidy bit of business for the Blue Jackets.

I quite like the Tobias Rieder deal for both sides. Edmonton really needed to add some speed to their wings and Rieder brings plenty. At 2mil a year he's very affordable. I like his versatility and his ability to play on the penalty kill. A speedy penalty killing forward that can score 12-18 goals and 25-35 points is very good value at 2 million.
I think he will do very well in a third line capacity. It's also got that nice story aspect about it. The Oilers traded Rieder due to a perceived glut of talent on the wing, now they bring him back because that talent wasted away or was expunged.
