Marc Moser will be the Avalanche’s new television play-by-play voice on Altitude Sports & Entertainment beginning with the 2018-19 season.

Moser, who has been the Avalanche’s play-by-play voice on Altitude 950 AM, replaces Mike Haynes, who resigned in May. He will work alongside longtime TV analyst Peter McNab on AltitudeTV and Altitude 2.

“You will not find a more passionate person about Avalanche hockey than Marc Moser," Altitude executive producer Ken Miller told BSNDenver.com. "He has gone about his business in the right way and been very patient waiting for his turn for a television opportunity.

"That opportunity has arrived, and I am thrilled for Marc. He is as good of a person as he is a broadcaster. Definitely a guy you want to root for."

Moser has worked with the Avalanche since the 1997-98 season when he was the in-studio host and producer of all radio broadcasts. He also was a daily sports talk show host and host of Avalanche Talk.

Conor McGahey will succeed Moser to call games on radio.

McGahey was the pregame, intermission and postgame host for the Vegas Golden Knights on AT&T SportsNet last season. He also called University of Denver hockey games and Colorado Rapids matches for Altitude TV.

McGahey attended DU and was the public address announcer at Pioneers games before serving in the same capacity for the Avalanche, University of Colorado football and Denver Broncos.

“I am truly honored and fortunate to be given this task,” McGahey said in a text message to the Denver Post. “I fell in love with the Avs at McNichols Arena on Oct. 6, 1995 and now I get to live every second of this team with people who love them as much as I have and do. It’s truly a blessing to be such a vessel for such a wonderful fan base. It’s good to be home.”

Moser and McGahey will be formally introduced in their new positions Thursday during the Vic Lombardi Show from 7-10 a.m. MT on Altitude 950 AM.

The Avalanche’s new American Hockey League affiliate, the Colorado Eagles, announced on Wednesday a two-game preseason schedule and 68-game regular-season schedule.

They’ll play their first AHL game on Friday, Oct. 5, against the Chicago Wolves at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo., 45 miles north of Denver.
