Lots happening in the world of Karlssons....on this AUGUST day...yes...August. I don't function before 7 am...but after 7...I usually...well sometimes...know the month..back to work.
William Karlsson's One Year Deal...
The Knights signing William to a one year deal is the perfect scenario for them...as one source put it: “This is the Cinderella tax to see if midnight will come on Wild Bill..." Karlsson will have another year and I love what McPhee said when he basically said we will “absolutely pay him any amount he deserves then.”

On Erik Karlsson...
It’s funny how many of the mainstream insiders must be up in their cabins because I am getting so much more info on Erik Karlsson right now than per usual and it’s really quiet elsewhere... Erik Karlsson and Calgary IS a thing still. I talked to several people last night about it and Dorion has broadened the scope while trying to go as far underground as possible to avoid more publicity...
Something I personally always find fascinating is how a team or player agent decides to frame a situation...It's fascinating how the Sens public talking points are now shifting to "We will have Erik all year and see what happens." Does ANYONE believe that a team sitting on one of the best hockey players in the world has stopped taking calls? AND that they aren't still getting inundated with calls?
While it is true they don't love the return if Karlsson is believed to be a "pure rental," they are ABSOLUTELY going down this road, discussing it with teams, and slowly working the prices back up. There IS an underground bidding war. That much is obvious. Not just because it’s all they can do, but Pierre Dorion has been told in no uncertain terms his job DEPENDS on it. And teams are talking...Along with Calgary...Edmonton, San Jose, Dallas, Vegas, and The NY Rangers are still interested in renting....and I imagine Tampa gets back in at some point, even though they have a good sense they can get Karlsson for nothing in July...As a rental...even Toronto can't be looked past...
