After taking some time off to reset I am back and ready to dive back into this. There was a lot of news regarding Jackets prospects this week starting with Liam Foudy. Foudy signed his entry level deal with the Blue Jackets.

Foudy signed your standard first round pick entry level contract. A $925,000 cap hit with schedule A bonuses that push the AAV to $1,300,000.

Foudy was also invited to partake in the World Junior Summer Showcase and just in case anyone forgot he has incredible speed.

Foudy has NHL speed there is no question about that, it’s just a matter of whether the rest of his game will be able to catch up. It’s going to be fascinating to follow him this season as he returns to the London Knights.

The Jackets received more good news last week as it was announced that the NCAA has allowed Carson Meyer to suit up for Ohio State this fall.

When players transfer schools they usually have to sit out a year before doing so. Giving what happened with Meyer at Miami University he felt he needed to be in a new situation and the NCAA agreed with him. This is great news for him and great for the OSU program. They get a local kid and one with ties to the Jackets. With Meyer now healthy look for him to have a big season and really get his hockey career back on track.

Finally, the Swiss league announced their end of season awards and Elvis Merzlikins won goaltender of the year.

Merzlikins finished fifth in league with a .921 save percentage. Between Merzlikins and Veini Vehvilainen the Jackets have two of the top goalies in Europe.
