The Detroit Red Wings and restricted free agent Dylan Larkin agreed to a five-year contract extension on Friday, at an AAV of $6.1 Million.
Larkin followed up a disappointing sophomore season with 62 points in the final year of his entry-level contract and set himself up for a big payday, but instead of going for the eight-year max deal , the 22-year-old opted for a five-year deal that bought only one year of unrestricted free agency and another big payday at the age of 27.
