Quick Hits: August 15, 2018

1) Two current Flyers' players celebrate birthdays today: Jakub Voracek turns 29 while Oskar Lindblom turns 22.

Voracek, coming off a career-high 85-point season (his second 80+ point campaign in the NHL) and his fifth career 20+ goal season. Dating back to the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, Voracek's 272 regular-season assists rank 8th in the NHL. He is 15th in total points in that span.

An AHL All-Star Game participant as a rookie last season, Lindblom subsequently became the first Swedish forward to dress for the Flyers since the 2006 trade that sent Peter Forsberg to the Predators. He played well at both ends of the ice but struggled to produce points despite being on the receiving or set-up end of many scoring chances. He dressed in four of six playoff games against Pittsburgh.

2) Voracek and Lindblom share a birthday with numerous Flyers Alumni: goaltender Martin Biron (1977), Craig MacTavish (1958), and the late Jim Cunningham (1955-2011).

3) The Flyers have held the rights to recent Clarkson University graduate defenseman Terrance Amorosa since drafting him the fith round (132nd overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft. Today, his rights will expire and he will become an unrestricted free agent. This summer, Amorosa has played in the Canadian Tire Pro League. Although unlikely to be offered an NHL entry-level deal, there could be teams interested in signing him to an AHL contract.

Technically, the Flyers will also lose the NHL rights to fellow defenseman David Drake today. However, upon completing his senior season at UConn in 2017-18, he was signed to an amateur tryout with the Phantoms and, this offseason, signed an AHL contract with the Phantoms for the 2018-19 season.

4) The annual Flyers Alumni Fantasy Camp, which has sold out every year since it started, will be held in Atlantic City from this Friday through Monday. Rob Baer and Bob Kelly always do a great job organizing the camp, which brings participants from across the U.S. and Canada -- primarily but not unanimously Flyers fans -- as well as a host of Flyers Alumni instructors from various generations of team history. This year's instructors include Mark Howe, Danny Briere, Bill Barber, Keith Jones, Brad Marsh, Andre "Moose" Dupont, Joe Watson, Ian Laperriere and the Hound himself.
