The NY Islanders are #5 in Cory Pronman’s NHL farm system rankings which has been running in The Athletic.

“…this is a deep farm system both in quality in quantity that deserves to be in the top-five even if they lack a true ‘star’ level prospect."
- Cory Pronman

Oliver Wahlstrom was listed as their High-End NHL prospect.

Pronman: "Wahlstrom is an elite goal scorer who also has the capability to carry a line due to his skill and creativity, and he generates a lot of clean entries. He’s more of a shooter than a playmaker, but he can certainly make tough passes when he needs to."

Under Very Good NHL Prospect were:
Noah Dobson
"He could be a second unit power play guy as a pro, while taking tough defensive matchups in a team’s top-four."

Kieffer Bellows
"He has one of the best shots outside the NHL and can score a ton of goals. He has skill, but he needs someone to get him the puck to put up big numbers as I wouldn’t describe his skill as dynamic."

Ruslan Iskhakov
"Iskhakov’s a tiny forward at 5-foot-8 and that might be generous, but his puck skills are fantastic. His brain is also high-end, if not elite. He sees plays developing so well and can outsmart defenders with his hands and vision."

Bode Wilde
"Wilde’s speed and skill level for a 6-foot-2 defenseman is elite."
"...The big issue with him is decision making. I generally am fine with high-skill guys turning pucks over – It’s a necessary evil that comes with having the puck a lot – but he makes a lot of overly risky plays, poor turnovers and can be on the butt end of too many highlight reels for the opposing team."

Under Legit Prospects were:
Josh Ho-Sang
Ilya Sorokin
Sebastian Aho
Devon Toews
Mitchell Vande Sompel

They were also #4 last season. Garth Snow had a lot of issues with getting the NHL team to the next level, but he at least has kept the prospect pool and options very strong throughout. Something that Lou Lamoriello will need to lean on since no big trade seems to be coming at this juncture.

Anthony Beauvillier, LW
