What an off season for the Maple Leafs.

The signing of Tavares was nothing shy of legendary and has put the Leafs atop the Eastern Conference in terms of potential. A mature superstar who has a lot left in the tank and can not only pot forty goals but he can teach the youngsters a few tricks along the way with his superior leadership skills.

The only negative heading into the season is William Nylander not being signed. It irritates me, a lot and I just hope they can figure out sooner than later as this is only hurting the team. Let’s play some hockey…

Special teams for Toronto should be outstanding this season. They have depth throughout the lineup and you can bet we will see some explosiveness from Kapanen this season as he must be eager to get a full season in with the Buds.

I havn’t touched a lot on Ennis, but I have to say for league minimum that may be the best bang for buck signing this season. Time will tell!

Tonight we have the Montreal Canadiens who are in the midst of a rebuild, I think. Bottom line is this is game one and the Leafs really need to stick it to Montreal right out the gates. The Habs have some speed, a lot more than people think so the Leafs will have to be prepared defensively. Price will be back in net after being injured a good chunk of last season and he will certainly have his work cut out for him tonight with an amped up Toronto Maple Leafs home crowd.

A few predictions:

Matthews 45 goals
Tavares 45 goals
Marner 75 points
Rielly 55 points
Andersen Vezina (no pressure)

Leafs roster:

Connor Brown
Tyler Ennis
Frederik Gauthier
Zach Hyman
Andreas Johnsson
Nazem Kadri
Kasperi Kapanen
Josh Leivo
Par Lindholm
Patrick Marleau (A)
Mitchel Marner
Auston Matthews
John Tavares (A)

Travis Dermott
Jake Gardiner
Ron Hainsey
Justin Holl
Martin Marincin
Igor Ozhiganov
Morgan Rielly (A)
Nikita Zaitsev

Frederik Andersen
Garret Sparks

Looking forward to a great season! I hope everyone has their Babcock socks on, Leafs jersey or whatever articles of clothing (Leaf related) and a stocked fridge at home!

Puck drop tonight!

Go Leafs Go!

Thanks for reading, enjoy the game!
