Swept last regular season by the Winnipeg Jets, the Dallas Stars got a small measure of revenge on Saturday night in a 5-1 rout at the American Airlines Center. Dallas improved to 2-0-0 on the young season.

The Stars' top line trio of Tyler Seguin (two goals, two assists), team captain Jamie Benn (two goals, one assist), and Alexander Radulov (one goal, two assists) was dominant and supplied all the goals for their team. Dallas scorched Winnipeg for three power play goals on five opportunities. They were 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

Coming off an opening night 30-save shutout win against the Arizona Coyotes, Ben Bishop denied 32 of 33 shots against Winnipeg. The Jets also had a would-be shorthanded goal by Brandon Tanev at 4:49 of the first period disallowed due to goaltender interference.

At 8:23 of the opening period, Dallas grabbed a 1-0 lead, as Radulov scored from a flat angle. A few minutes later, Seguin buried a power play shot for the right circle to build a two-goal lead.

Brett Ritchie dropped the gloves with Winnipeg's Adam Lowry seconds after Jets' defenseman crosschecked Dallas blueliner Connor Carrick. The bout got a rise from the crowd.

The Jets drew within 2-1 at 2:10 of the second period as Kyle Connor beat Bishop upstairs. About five minutes later, however, the Stars rebuilt a two-goal margin as Benn potted a Jason Spezza power play rebound.

At 7:38 of the third period, Seguin set up Benn for a power-play redirect to built a 4-1 lead. Seguin made it a two-goal, four-point night for himself at 12:41, beating Connor Hellebuyck on the backhand.

Benn reached a milestone in this game: He hit the 600-point mark for his NHL career. Overall, the Stars outshot the Jets by a 35-33 margin and had a 63-58 advantage in shot attempts.
