Game Night in Smashville as the Winnipeg Jets land in Music City for the first time since last season’s epic second round playoff series. Both teams come in with 2-1-0 records, both teams are favorites in the West, both teams have huge expectations from their fanbases. Nashville is looking to wash the nasty taste of Tuesday night’s loss in their home opener.

This is the first really stiff test of both of these teams. Both teams have shown some inconsistency in their first three games. Both teams have significant home ice advantages that they have struggled to take advantage of in their last few games. Including playoffs, the road team has won the last six games.

These Central Division games will be critical to these two teams. The division, as we look right now, has four teams at 2-1… every point will matter.

I expect to see Connor Hellebuyck and Pekka Rinne in net tonight, both players are off to solid starts to their season. Kyle Connor is leading the Jets in goals scoring early, with 3 in 3 games, Viktor Arvidsson is leading the Preds with 2. Concern still about Arvidsson after taking a puck to the face in Tuesday’s game. He returned in the 2nd period wearing a face shield but wasn’t as effective as he normally is.

A lot of folks have been speculating that the Preds may have been peeking past the Flames game to this one and given the Preds play, it may be an accurate observation. The Nashville blueline will be looking for some redemption, especially PK Subban after a sub-par performance on Tuesday night

This is the first of four regular season matchups… every one last season was just thrilling hockey to watch. Game time is 7pm. Coverage on the flagship of the Predators Radio Network, 102.5 the Game and on Fox Sports Tennessee. Very limited tickets remain for tonight’s tilt.

- Filip Forsberg is on a four game against these Jets and has points in seven of the last nine games against Winnipeg.

- Good game in DC last night in a rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup Final. The Caps took down Vegas 5-2. Vegas has lost three games so far in their sophomore season, they didn’t lose their third game last season until Nov. 2.
