Center
J.T. Compher has a head injury, as reported by
bsndenver.com, and won’t play Tuesday when the Avalanche face the New York Rangers to open a four-game road trip.
Compher, who is off to a hot start with four points (three goals, one assist) in the first five games, sustained the injury Saturday against the Calgary Flames. No word on how long he’ll be sidelined.

Vladislav Kamenev will center the fourth line in Compher’s absence.
Sheldon Dries, who was recalled from the Colorado Eagles, will be at left wing with
Matt Calvert on the right.
Forward
Marko Dano, who was claimed on waivers Monday from the Winnipeg Jets, is undergoing the usual immigration process and hasn’t joined the team yet.
Center
Nathan MacKinnon needs a goal to set a franchise record for the longest season-opening goal streak. He scored in each of the Avalanche’s first five games to match the record set by the Quebec Nordiques’
Mats Sundin in 1992-93.
Right wing
Mikko Rantanen leads the team in scoring with eight points (one goal, seven assists) and has an assist in each of the first five games.
Semyon Varlamov will start in goal. Defenseman
Mark Barberio is the lone healthy scratch.
