The Coyotes are in Minnesota tonight, for game one of a four game road trip.
As you may of heard, the Coyotes are 1-3 to start the season, having been shut-out in three of their first four games. They are yet to score a 5v5 goal this season.
It's incredible.
But the glass is half full, because the Coyotes - though they aren't scoring - are getting chances and they have generally out-shot and out-played their opponents so far this season. They might not be getting much success, but they've played better than their record or goal totals would indicate.
The Coyotes have also been without three core players - Alex Galchenyuk, still yet to play since being acquired in the summer for Maximilian Domi , Jacob Chychrun who is still recovering from yet another offseason knee surgery, and Christian Dvorak who has also not played this season.
According to Athletic beat reporter Craig Morgan, both players are on the road trip and skating. There is no word when they might play.
It's not that exciting, but Josh Archibald is going to play tonight. He's a decent player and is probably a bit better than Mario Kempe, who he'll be replacing.
With three main offensive players out of their lineup, and still playing decently, I'm willing to give the Coyotes the benefit of the doubt so far. They are a good team with a lot of talent, and. if fully healthy they should be able to ice a team that has decent NHL players at every spot.
They better score tonight though, enough is enough.
Their zero percent (0%!!) shooting percentage is guaranteed to improve, as is their 10th worst in the NHL 90% save percentage. They have a four percent lower PDO than the Las Vegas Golden Knights who themselves have been almost comically unlucky so far this season.
I would expect things to even out tonight and that the Coyotes will score about 40 goals.
