Wrapup and Quick Hits

1) Three nights after playing well enough to win most games but coming up empty in a 1-0 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights, the Flyers took a step backward in many facets of their game but a five-goal second period and two shootout goals in three rounds proved to be just enough to salvage a 6-5 win over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Center. The win came despite getting off to a poor first-period start and later squandering a 5-2 lead with atrocious team defense and so-so goaltending on both sides. For the good, bad and ugly developments from a crazy night at the Wells Fargo Center, click here.

2) The Flyers got their first home win of the season in three tries, while the still-winless Panthers fell to 0-3-1 on the young season.

3) The Flyers will hold an 11 a.m. ET practice on Wednesday at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. On Thursday, they are on the road to play the Columbus Blue Jackets.

4) During the second intermission of Tuesday's game, the Flyers Alumni Association presented checks to the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation and BLOCS from the funds raised from the 2018 CDW Flyers Alumni Golf Invitational. This year's event raised $175,000 for Snider Hockey and $37,000 for BLOCS. Flyers Alumni Association president Brad Marsh was on hand to present the ceremonial (and real) checks to the beneficiaries. Other Alumni on hand included Danny Briere, Bill Barber, Brian Propp, Bernie Parent, Joe Watson, Doug Crossman and Dave "the Hammer" Schultz.
