KHL names their best players for the month of October

KHL has ended it's 3rd month of the season and league has selected the best players of Month three.


The best goalie was Juha Metsola (Salavat Yulaev), who played 10 out of 11 games without being benched last month with his team, with six wins, including one shutout. His team had points in 8 of 11 matches, while Metsola was first in the League for games played, 11, tied with Ivan Bocharov and Julius Hudacek. The Salavat Yulaev goalie had a saves percentage of 95,95%, with a goals-against average of 1,53. In the game against Avangard Omsk, Metsola established a new KHL record, stopping 62 out of 64 shots.

The best defenseman was Paul Postma (Ak Bars), who had 11 (3+8) points in 11 games. He won eight games with his team in October, posted no negative ratings and ending the month being plus-9. Postma scored points in seven of 11 games last month and had game-winning goals against Amur and HC Dynamo. He also had 22 shots on goal and blocked 12 shots coming from the opposition.

The best forward was Nigel Dawes (Avtomobilist), who won 11 of 12 games with his team last month, scoring 12 (4+8) points with a plus-5 rating. Dawes scored points in 10 out of 12 games in October, including in five of six away games. He scored the game-winning goals in the road games against Severstal and Metallurg, and in the home match against Jokerit. The Avtomobilist forward had 33 shots on goal, recorded eight hits, and blocked six shots from the opposition

The best rookie was goalkeeper Ilya Konovalov (Lokomotiv), who won six of nine games, including three shutout wins. The 20-year-old goalie had his first KHL shutout against SKA St. Petersburg. Konovalov had a saves percentage of 95,08% with a goals-against average of 1,47. In October, Konovalov was elected twice among the best players of the week.
