It took far too long but the William Nylander signing saga has finally come to an end. After months of back and forth and a lot of time and money wasted, Willy signed himself a 6.9 x 6 year contract and the Leafs are now fully loaded and ready for the big run.

At least until trade deadline…

There is still some money left in the pot (2.8 million) and if the three headed dragon (Dubas, Shanahan, Babcock) feel the Leafs need some defensive depth then we may see a late season addition.

Without a doubt there will be some tricky cap work ahead but I believe there is a plan and everything will unfold beautifully and the Leafs will have a contender for years to come. For now, let’s enjoy the ride and worry about the cap when the season is over.

This is the team we have been waiting for, even without Nylander the Leafs are in beast mode. With slick haired Nylander added to the lineup the Leafs will be more dangerous than ever before.

I feel this is the season Leafs fans will be talking about for years to come. Embrace it, soak it all in. We die hard Leafs fans have waited a long time to have a roster like this. Right from the bottom to the top this roster, coaching staff and teams management is the best it’s ever been.

The Leafs have impressed us all this season with a quality month in November without both Matthews and Nylander. I can’t wait to see what the boys can do when they are all healthy and actually playing (yeah a little stab at Willy there).

Have you had a chance to look at the structure of Nylander’s contract?

2018: 10,277,778
2019-2024: 6,962,366

Is this how Dubas and his bookies were able to make it work for both Nylander and the Leafs? What are your thoughts on how the deal went down, how it’s structured and did he have to miss all those games for the deal to go down as it did?

The Leafs have three games this week:

Tuesday they travel to Buffalo
Thursday they host Detroit
Saturday they are off to Boston

The Sabres have been red hot, literally the hottest team in the NHL. It’s been a long time since I said that! Tomorrow’s game should be a dandy, let’s hope the boys can keep her rolling.

Expect Nylander to sit a few more games until he’s done his physical and gets a few practices/skates in with the boys.

Thanks for reading, have a great day.
