The Canadiens come into tonight game hanging on to the 2nd wildcard spot in the eastern conference 3 points ahead of Pittsburgh who has a game in hand however. As for the Wild, tonight will be their 30th game and they are currently on the outside looking in 3 points behind the 2nd wildcard spot in the West, although they do have 3 games in hand on the current holders, the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The Habs have won their last 3 games while the Wild have lost 5 of their last 6 duels and just got back from a tough trip in Western Canada.

Claude Julien has yet to announce who will man the net for the Tricolore but I wouldn't be surprised to see Carey Price make a 8th straight outing. Over the course of the last 7 games, he has a 2.28 GAA and a .917 save percentage. It should be noted that Shea Weber has been back in the line-up for 6 games, coincidence? I think not. No matter how good a goaltender is he can only do so much behind a shaky defence and while Weber's sole return doesn't fix everything, it does help massively. Mind you, Weber also has 5 points in 6 games and he's therefore just as important to the Canadiens offense. It's a small miracle that they've done so well this season so far without him.

The Canadiens will practice this morning in Minnesota and we should know the identity of the starting goaltender as well as who will be an healthy scratch on the blue line. Coming into tonight's game, Andrew Shaw is riding a 4 game point streak while both Kotkaniemi and Tatar have their on 3 game point streak. The youngster is looking better and better and while not every play he orchestrates ends up in the net, he does make fan marvel with his silky mitts and dishing-up skills.

The puck is set to drop at 20:00 tonight and there's nothing left to say but Go Habs Go!
