Vadim Shipachyov and Jets prospect Vesalainen named best of the month

KHL has named their best players for December and there are a few familiar names to the NHL crowd. ''Barys'' Astana goalie Henrik Karlsson, ''Vitjaz'' Podolsk defensemen Vojtech Mozik, former Golden Knight and now ''Dynamo'' Moscow's own Vadim Shipachyov and rookie of the month - Jets prospect and Helsinki ''Jokerit'' youngster Kristian Vesalainen.

Russian forward Shipachyov took part in 12 games scoring 5 goals recording 13(!!!) assists helping Dynamo Moscow win 9 games. Shipachyov recorded points in 10 out of 12 games, made 26 shots on goal, threw 15 hits and earned a rating of +7.


Team Kazakhstan goalie (for real, I'm telling you guys) Karlsson played 9 games in the month of December leading ''Barys'' to 6 victories while recording two shutouts. The former Swede turned away 94.90% of opponent shots while averaging 1,25 goals per game.


''Vitjaz'' defensemen Mozic took part in 9 games scoring only a single goal but he got an assist in 7 occasions while his team recorded 6 victories for the month. Mozik's rating was +4, he made 8 hits and recorded 7 blocked shots.


Top youngster for the month of December is Kristian Vesalainen (WPG) of Helsinki ''Jokerit''. He took part in 12 KHL games, scored 3 goals, recorded 6 assists. The 19-year-old Finn also recorded 17 shots on goal and a rating of +1.
