Murphy Recalled, Is Fenton Ready to Make a Deal?

Which way do the Wild go in 2019?

We have seen the December swoons and even a January to February tumble that cost Mike Yeo his job three years ago. In each of the past 6 seasons the Wild have been able to muster up enough points to qualify for the dance.

So is 2019 different or more of the same for these Minnesota Wild players?

I'm not so sure that this year's version has got enough in the tank to mount the type of charge it will take to get them into a solid playoff position. There is not enough consistency with the team, too many holes and just not enough there to make me think this season will take the course of the most recent second halves.

Of course that can all change with a deal, as the trade market is heating up.

One move that was long overdue has transpired, and that is Ryan Murphy being recalled from Iowa in place of the injured Matt Dumba. Murphy filled in admirably last season for Jared Spurgeon during his two lengthy stays on IR.

Murphy is a much more gifted offensive defenseman than Nate Prosser and should help the Wild transition game and powerplay. Murphy shoots the puck well and knows how to get the puck off his tape quickly and on net.

Nick Seeler is healthy once again and Matt Bartkowski has since been returned to Iowa.
