The recently acquired Nick Schmaltz is out for the season with a body injury.

Is it upper? Is it lower? Find out next week in Vague Injuries with Nick Kypreos, airing Sundays on Sportsnet.

The Schmaltzster joins Jason Demers, Antti Raanta and Christian Dvorak as Coyotes who are now officially out for the season.

For those keeping track at home, that is the team's #1 goalie, their #1 centre, their #2 centre and a top pairing defenseman.

Additionally, Coyotes top young defenseman Jacob Chychrun didn't play till Christmas, and neither did top prospect Nick Merkley.

Offseason acquisitions Alex Galchenyuk, Michael Grabner, Vinnie Hinostroza have missed 10, 10 and 17 games respectively, with Grabner taking a stick in the eye and leaving the team to join the cast of Hook on Broadway.

Additionally, the Coyotes have had to play their third string goalie for the same amount of games as their #1, as back-up Darcy Kuemper has also been in and out of the lineup.

Kevin Connauton has hurt his knee and is also out. Oh no, did I say Knee? I meant lower body injury! See you later any chance I ever had on voting for an award!!!

Only five Coyotes have dressed for every game this season.

As a fully functioning adult with the ability to discern logic, I don't believe in Karma any more than I believe in astrology, voodoo, or Gary Bettman. But if I did, I'd say this is what you get for drafting a guy third overall, having him lead your team in points per 60 minutes last year, then starting him on the fourth line, playing him only with losers and then saying he's not performing well despite a preposterously low shooting and on-ice shooting percentage, and then trading him even though he's doing nothing but possession the puck when he's on the ice.

To sum up, what's left of the Coyotes are off till Thursday, but who cares, cause the season is over.
