The Rangers, in their final game before the bye week and All-Star break, defeated Boston 3-2 on Saturday. New York extended their win streak to three with the victory. The Blueshirts next play January 29 against Philly.

Game recap:

David Quinn Post-Game:

Filip Chyil coast-to-coast goal from two different views (on it, Charlie McAvoy checked Chytil after the goal and Chytil banged into Tuukka Rask causing a concussion when Rask's head hit the goal post:

The game-winner by Mika Zibanejad, who tallied twice in the contest: (great keep at the line by Kevin Shattenkirk and screen by Chris Kreider)

Henrik Lundqvist moves into sixth place all-time in wins with the victory:

Love the time on ice for Tony DeAngelo, who was on ice late in the game, and a real strong game by Brady Skjei. In addition, Mike Murphy posted this stat on Kevin Shattenkirk, eight points in his first 25 games this year, four points in his last six games:

Special teams won the game. Zib's PPG was the one success in three tries but the penalty kill was the difference. Three successful kills in the first period and 5-for-5 for the game. New York struggled again on faceoffs, winning just 36%, but Mats Zuccarello, who extended his point streak to five games, won a key draw in the second period, leading to Brady Skjei's point shot and Zib's deflection for his first goal of the game, also extending his point streak to five contests.

Ryan Lindgren and Boo Nieves: were sent down to Hartford after the game to get some work while the Rangers are off. Lindgren will be back after the break, as he has looked very solid since coming up. Nieves also should rejoin the Rangers for the January 29 game, as he steadily improved and settled in nicely as the third or fourth line center. I am hoping the nine days off will benefit Brett Howden, who clearly has hit a wall.
