The Blues dominated the Devils on Tuesday, winning 8-3 in a game that didn’t even seem that close as the Blues led 6-1 after two periods while outshooting them 31 to 11.

Here is a recap of the Blues goals:

As far as the Devils’ goals, they scored after a bad giveaway by Pat Maroon, on a 5 on 3 power play and a screened shot that deflected off Robert Bortuzzo’s stick.

Coach Craig Berube did well to spread minutes around with no Blues forward playing more than 17 minutes and none less than 10 minutes. The defensemen were also bunched closer with 5 of the 6 being within 2 minutes of ice time of each other. Alex Pietrangelo was +6 with three points while Ivan Barbashev and Vladimir Tarasenko also had three points each. Zach Sanford and Oskar Sundqvist were the only Blues forwards not to record a point.

The win was their 7th in a row and makes them 11-2-1 in their last 14 games. The Blues are 10-3-1 in their last 14 road games. Tarasenko has a nine game point streak (7 goals 7assists).

Tonight the Blues visit the Arizona Coyotes, looking to win their 8th game in a row. The Coyotes have won two in a row and are 4-4-2 in their last 10 games. They have been poor at home, going 10-13-3 though they are 3-1-2 in their last six home games.

The Coyotes are the 4th lowest scoring team but are much better defensively, ranking 11th in goals against per game. They do have the best penalty kill in the league.

Saint Louisan Clayton Keller leads the Coyotes with 38 points in 56 games. Oliver Ekman-Larsson leads the defense with 27 points in 55 games. Keller has been lights out against the Blues with seven points in six games.

The Coyotes will be without Antti Raanta, Jason Demers, Michael Grabner, and Nick Schmaltz.

The Blues have dropped three straight to the Coyotes after winning the previous 12.

Alexander Steen has 28 points in 30 games against the Coyotes while Tarasenko and Schwartz each have 14 in 17 games. Alex Pietrangelo has 20 in 27 games and Ryan O’Reilly has 21 in 26 games.

Given the winning streak, the Blues will keep the lineup the same other than having Jordan Binnington return to the starter’s net.
Schenn - O'Reilly – Tarasenko
Schwartz - Bozak – Steen
Sanford - Sundqvist - Maroon
MacEachern - Barbashev - Thomas
Edmundson - Pietrangelo
Bouwmeester - Parayko
Dunn - Bortuzzo
Binnington

We’ve gotten some traction on the charity wager among the Central Division bloggers. One charity I’ll highlight is Paws in Motion which is run by the Winnipeg Humane Society https://www.whspawsinmotion.ca/from your Jet’s Blogger Peter Tessier. Paws in Motion works and walks toward a future where no dogs, cats, or critters need to suffer from hunger, homelessness, or neglect. They believe all animals deserve to live happy and healthy lives with loving families.

It’s a great day for hockey.
