Nick Jensen to Washington - GM MacLellan not shy |

The Washington Capitals made a second move in as many days picking up right-hand defenceman Nick Jensen from Detroit in exchange for Madison Bowey and a 2nd round pick in 2020.
General Manager Brian MacLellan made a shrewd move last season pickup up Michal Kempny from Chicago and it looks like he is trying to do that again here. Jensen, 28, was drafted 149th overall in 2009 and plays a strong two-way game, something MacLellan was looking for.
Currently making only $812,500 his contract is up as a UFA at the end of the season. He will certainly be looking for a substantial raise and term next year so the long-term ramifications of losing a young defenseman like Bowey won't be known. However, with Orpik likely gone next season and Niskanen nearing the end in my opinion, Jensen could get a contract in DC pending his performance over the next few months.
The native of Rogers, Minnesota has 2 goals and 13 assists in 60 games and is a +1 on a struggling Wings team. He is playing big minutes and has looked good alongside Kronwall in Motown.
