Tonight if it wasn't for Carey Price, the Canadiens would not have won. It's not the first time this happens, far from it... Over the course of his 12 year career, Price has won 315 games and stolen a number of those. Finally, Price made history tonight by passing Plante on the all-time list of goaltender wins with the Montreal Canadiens and it's a much needed record. Of course, it took him quite a while to get there but considering the teams he's been playing behind, I'd say that's no surprise.

The Canadiens did dominate the first two frames of the game generating more shots than Detroit and holding the puck for long periods of play. Took them quite a while to manage to get a puck past Jonathan Bernier at 12:27 in the second period when Max Domi converted on a nice passing play from Shaw and Tatar. Five minutes later, Brett Kulak, who was just back in the line-up after being an healthy scratch, scored the second goal with assists from Tatar (again) and Gallagher. Even though the line of Drouin-Domi-Shaw had worked like a charm against the Wings last time, Julien started the game with Byron alongside the other two while Drouin was still on the third line with Kotkaniemi and Armia. The coach eventually remembered the last game and swapped Byron and Drouin during the final period.

Speaking of the final period, the Wings dominated it and made it much too close for comfort when they scored 40 seconds in through Andreas Anthanasiou who has scored 5 of the Wings' 7 goals against the Habs this season. To be fair, that goal wasn't pretty, Price should have had that but since he made plenty of brilliant saves and won the game, we can forgive him that one mistake. Max Domi scored his second goal of the game in an empty net to make it 3-1.

Since the Blue Jackets won tonight, the Canadiens are still in 9th place in the east outside of the playoffs picture but at least, they've got the same number of points and have played the same number of games. Whether we like it or not, this playoffs race will be going down to the wire and the smallest mistake could end up being fatal. Buckle up people it's going to be a rough ride to the finish! The Habs will be in Chicago on Thursday night and will be looking for another huge 2 points, you don't want to miss that.
