PLUS / MINUS: Playoff Frenzy Edition

PLUS: The Coyotes 13-4-1 run, that has gotten them into a playoff race. The Eastern Race has been pretty boring (probably because I don't really care about Columbus, Carolina or Montreal) but the West has been great.

After suffering some of the worst injury luck in NHL history, the Coyotes had some really good luck over the last few weeks as they've gone on this incredible run.

PLUS: Since February 8th, the Coyotes are 13-4-1 for 27 points which is third in the NHL during this time, behind Tampa and Boston.

How are the Coyotes doing it? Magic. Or goaltending. The Coyotes - Darcey Kuemper - is rocking a a 94% save percentage over this time, while the team is putting up the 4th worst possession numbers in the NHL over the course of their recent hot run.

MINUS: In typical NHL fashion, everyone is crediting Rick Tocchet for his amazing coaching, when really, he's just getting radical goaltending. This is the same with the Islanders. Like the Coyotes, they have no real business with their roster being in a playoff spot, but they've gotten amazing goaltending and presto.

I love the Coyotes, but when Brad Richardson is your leading scoring, and you've spend the entire year without your best goalie and best scoring centre (and don't forget, Derek Stepen, their most used centre and hardest matchup guy, has been out for this entire run).

PLUS: Ordering six CDs while drinking wine at 3 AM. Probably the best thing I've ever done.

PLUS: I just learned - ten minutes ago - that there is a new season of Arrested Development? That is the greatest news! A coodle-oodle-ooooooo!

MINUS: A guy wrote to me to tell me off because I don't like the NHL's point scoring system (which is dumb) but do like the Coyotes, who he claims have benefited from it greatly.

If I think there are too many home runs in baseball, should I boycott the game anytime my favorite team hits one (the Blue Jays)? I am confused.

PLUS: Bloodbourne. I googled 'hardest game on PS4' after defeating the sadly easy Spiderman game (final boss beaten on the first try!) to 100% and ended up buying Bloodbourne later that day.

No map, no checkpoints and very, very large monsters. It's not exactly the kind of game I'm usually into, but it's learning curve is so perfect, that despite how hard it is, you always get slightly farther each time.

It's really quite the achievement. Plus it isn't bogged down with stories and cut scenes or even instructions of what to do or why. The game just sort of starts you off and lets you figure it out.

PLUS: A Letters to Cleo cd came in the mail for me this week.

PLUS Collecting hockey cards. I hadn't done so in 20 years, but this year I've been collecting Upper Deck series one with my son.

It's been an absolute blast. I highly recommend anyone reading this to, if you have a hockey loving son or daughter, buy a box of these cards.

We collected the entire base set, and this week I found some discounted boxes on sale at Shoppers due to series 2 being out. Eventually we pulled the Rasmus Dahlin Young Guns card, which is the second best.

Sadly, we could not snag an Elias Pettersson, which retails for about $150. We almost have all the Young Guns, but I don't know if I can stomach paying $150 for a single card.

PLUS: The guy on Ebay who let me off the hook when I won an auction for a Pettersson card that turned out to be oversized. I don't know what an oversized card is or where he got it, but it wasn't gonna fit in binder, so I am glad he didn't make us pay for it.

Kind of a drag though, cause I thought I had scored a huge deal when I wont the auction for $22 bucks or whatever it was.

MINUS: The Leafs in green. I don't like it. St. Patricks day seems a little too Bro Friendly for me. Like, let's do bad Irish accents, a keg stand, and watch UFC fights. Possibly while listening to Nickleback.

Pass.

PLUS: This

MINUS: Spring has destroyed my hockey rink.

PLUS: Vladimir Guerrero and also new (almost) sugar free gatorade and hang over pizza with green peppers.

PLUS: My new life goal is to never use the words "literally" or "ridiculous" again.
