One Point Never Enough In A Playoff Race

Another good effort from the home team last night in St. Paul comes up short in the extra frame.

We have been saying that for a long time now.

So what gives?

Is Boudreau watching the same thing the rest of us are when it comes to 3 on 3?

I am not trying to throw BB under the bus as I believe he has done a remarkable job with what he has had to work with during his three seasons in Minnesota. My major issue with Boudreau, comes when the 60 minutes have expired. The 3 on 3 is a youth, speed, possession game, so when you see a trio of Eric Staal, Zach Parise, and Ryan Suter on the ice all at the same time it lends to some head scratching to say the least.

The three elderstatesman are fully capable of helping the Wild win in OT, just not all together.

Paul Fenton has been doing his work in making the team younger and faster, so why isn't the head coach following suit in the 3 on 3?

It is fair to assume that Boudreau's days behind the Wild bench are numbered with and expiration date of Spring 2019. Knowing that BB was not privy to the war room on deadline day says all that anyone needs to know about his future here.

That said I still believe that he would like nothing more than to have a perfect record of making the playoffs in each of his seasons as Wild head coach. Therefore it makes one wonder why he fails to give the team their best chance to grab the extra point.

In other Wild news they have signed former Gopher, Mat Robson, to a two year entry level deal.
