Saturday's loss in Carolina left the Wild to scoreboard watching on Sunday ahead of tonight's key Central Division battle with Nashville at home.

The Islanders took care of the Coyotes, while the Blackhawks competed the come from behind victory over Colorado, albeit in overtime, giving the Avalanche another point in the standings.

With six games to play the Wild trail the Avalanche by two points. Colorado is heating up riding a five game (4-0-1) unbeaten streak, while Arizona is trending down losing five straight (0-3-2). Minnesota has plodded along going 2-2-1 over their last five.

So what gives over the next six for all three teams?

Arizona has games against both Minnesota and Colorado, while the Wild will need to take care of business themselves on the ice and get help along the way if they are going to keep their playoff streak alive.

The up and down Wild have been that all season showing signs that they can hang with some of the league's elite, and then appearing to skate through the motions against many of the league's lesser talented squads.

The remaining six games for Minnesota feature none of the lower tier teams which can only be a plus for the Wild. The playoffs are here and if the boys are up to the task against the league's elite, they will find themselves playing beyond game number 82.

If they continue to tread water rising and falling like the tides it will be six more games and a turning of the page in the offseason.

Granny is back in town tonight for the third matchup between the Predators and Wild since the trade deadline deal that brought Kevin Fiala to the State of Hockey. The last two ended in shootout victories for Nashville, can the Wild muster up another good performance and this time compete the victory on home ice?

It's always Hockey Day in The State of Hockey!
