And so it has come to this...the end of the season.

Tonight will put a close on the 2018-2019 Florida Panthers. It seems appropriate that the schedule happened to pit them against the New Jersey Devils - another team that was pegged to have an improved season, but also failed to take that next step, but ended up going backwards (some key injuries helped added to their woes).

These teams are awful defensively. In fact, both squads find themselves to be two of the worst defensive teams in the league. The Devils have allowed 268 goals this season, while the Panthers have allowed 269.

Yikes.

The Panthers are coming off a 2-1 shootout loss to the Islanders Thursday. Despite the loss, the best part of Thursday was the play of Monty. He looked really good turning away 34 of 36 shots faced. It was certainly a way to end on a positive note for him heading into the offseason.

Speaking of which...

If you were hoping to get one last look at some of the young guns tonight, they've been sent down to the A. Monty, Hawryluk and Hunt will be helping the Thunderbirds to have more playing time.

From Tallon:

"We are proud of how Jayce, Dryden and Sam competed for our club this season. Their impact to our lineup is indicative of their development and the work they put in playing for Springfield in the American Hockey League. With the Thunderbirds having five games remaining, we wanted Jayce, Dryden and Sam to have the chance to play more games and contribute to a strong finish to Springfield's season."

Probably the best move to make at this point.

Before I get to my last point, I just wanted to take a second and say thanks for letting me chime in on the Panthers here these past couple months. Though it's been a disappointing season, it's been fun being able to watch and discuss this team with you guys...so thanks!

With that being said...

You're The Front Office and GM

We all know what this team's biggest issues seem to be (defense/coaching) and we've broken them down multiple times, but I thought it would be fun to hear what you guys would do if you were in charge.

Try to keep it realistic, but let me know how you would strengthen this club in the offseason. Who gets traded and for what? What guys do you sign, etc.?

Hopefully some of you will chime in...

Go Panthers!
