Pre-game Report: NYI @ WSH
On a very busy Saturday night around the league, the New York Islanders will wrap up their season in Washington against the Capitals. With a point, the Islanders will clinch home ice in the first round of the playoffs. Here’s the pre-game report.
HEAD TO HEAD
The Islanders haven’t had a lot of success against the Capitals, going just 1-4 dating back to last March. The Capitals have been slightly better in their last 10 games (6-3-1) than the Islanders (6-4-0) and have also been great at home, going 24-10-6 at Capital One Arena, while the Islanders have gone 23-14-3 on the road.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Josh Bailey has six points in his last seven games after a rough stretch that extended through much of March. Jordan Eberle also has five goals and six points in his last six games, while Brock Nelson has nine points in his last 11 games.
No surprise here, but watch for Evgeny Kuznetsov who has seven points in his last five games and Alex Ovechkin who has 12 points in his last 12 games. Carl Hagelin also has 11 points in his last 15 games and Dmitry Orlov has been great as well, with nine points and a plus-12 rating in his last 15 games.
*Note: John Carlson, Nicklas Backstrom and T.J. Oshie are all expected to sit tonight.*
