SKA St.Petersburg continued the trend of the home team winning the game therefor forcing game 7 to determine one of the Gagarin Cup finalists.

Nail Yakupov was the start of the game for SKA scoring two goals. In the 16th minute of the game, he skated into the zone, received the puck and put it past Sorokin from the right circle. In the 3rd minute of the 2nd period, he doubled the lead scoring on an empty corner.

However, the 2nd half took a turn in favor of the CSKA team. Mat Robinson gave them two goals to tie the game. One was more a fluke while the other came from a combination on a man advantage.

The final word of the game belonged to.. well technically the referees but actually Golden Knights prospect Nikita Gusev who faked a pass then skated down into the circle and fired away the puck past screened Ilya Sorokin. That was followed by a 14(!!) minute video review but call on the ice stood - good goal.
