Extra Off Day - Rise Up!

An extra day off in this series as the Preds and Stars will wait until tomorrow to get Game 2 going. I am not sure if it is a good or bad thing. It might be a good thing for Wednesday’s loss to marinate a bit, let it sink in that the loss was squarely on them. And also let it sink in that they have a chance to reverse the course of franchise history and be the first Predators team to lose game one and win a series.

That’s right Pred Nation, the scary thought of the day is that the Nashville Predators are 0-9 in series’ that they lose game one. The Predators have lost five of their last six home games. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? So… what is a championship starved fanbase to do? Abandon hope?

Awwwww hell no… it’s time to double down! It’s time to bring it even harder tomorrow night, louder, snarkier, even more passionate. This team feeds off the energy at Bridgestone Arena and Pred Nation will rise up!

On the ice, the Predators know what needs to happen… it all comes down to execution. The details involved in the specific elements of the game, nowhere is this more evident than the power play. Expect this to be a major focus of today’s practice at Bridgestone Arena. The movement of the power play has been better as of late and the addition of some wrinkles has it not looking so predictable, but the finish is not there and needs to be found… with the number of power plays awarded in game one, it just needs to be taken advantage of or this postseason run will be over before it even got going.

The other piece is compete level… the Predators need to find a way to replicate the first period from Wednesday night on a regular basis. Games will ebb and flow, but finding a repeatable execution level will be the key.

Pred Nation knows that a game one loss does not mean the end… but it does mean that the margin for error is narrowing and the sense of urgency grows.

Game two is tomorrow at 5pm.
