1) Claude Giroux is the Flyers' nominee for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, which recognizes leadership on and off the ice, including a demonstrable humanitarian contribution to his local community. All 31 NHL teams nominate one player each year. Giroux's off-ice work includes supporting Children's Hospital of Philadelphia through his Claude Giroux Foundation, donating his private suite for every game to various charitable and community organizations and serving a Make-a-Wish Foundation ambassador. The winner is chosen by a committee of senior NHL executives chaired by Gary Bettman and Bill Daly.

2) The first runner-up for the Selke Trophy last year, Sean Couturier, did not finish among the top three vote-getters in this year's PHWA ballot. The finalists this year are Patrice Bergeron (for the 8th straight season), Ryan O'Reilly, and Mark Stone.

3) OHL: The OHL semifinals get underway on Thursday in both conferences, including Isaac Ratcliffe's Guelph Storm taking on the Saginaw Spirit in the Western Conference final. Game time for Game 1 in Saginaw is 7:05 p.m. EDT. In the Eastern Conference, the Ottawa 67's host the Oshawa Generals in Game 1.

4) The introductory press conference for new Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Both Vigneault and general manager Chuck Fletcher will address the media.
