Another unreal game last night. Truly a case of the Hurricanes wanting it more, especially in overtime. The fact that Washington had only to 4 shots in the first OT was incredibly telling...

This first round! I mean seriously. This first round will be hard to top.

I have always said the opening round of the playoffs is an entity to itself. Teams often feel the pressure and for most NHL teams winning a round of the playoffs is vital for their season to be considered a success. It is for these reasons we see so many upsets in round 1, and in general, we see fewer upsets as the playoffs go along. I will be posting my predictions for round 2 later today and tomorrow....but...

With the parting of round 1 we are left with only 8 teams alive, meaning for roughly 75% of NHL fanbases it is time to look towards the summer and trades and free agents...This summer, more than ever, we will see a CRAZY number of moves and deck shuffling. Rumors get easier and easier to come by...and after so many top teams saw their seasons end way sooner than anticipated we are going to see trades, trades, trades... the Draft is has become bigger than the deadline and the Draft is less two months away kids.

And all of this is what we love to do here...Over the past few days, in anticipation of the end of the opening round, I have been working the phones like crazy and getting together info to launch this summer's rumor chart over the next few days...tomorrow morning at the latest.

What are some of your questions regarding rumors this summer?
