The Jack Hughes/Kappo Kakko debate continues to drive twitter. After Hughes was brilliant in the Under 18 tournament, the edge as the first pick seemed to switch to him. Kakko now has weighed in with a phenomenal first few games in the IIHF World Championships. For the Rangers, it remains wait and see what New Jersey will do at #1, which isn't the worst position to be in.

Larry Brooks weighed in today:

Honestly, social media does not get any better than a subsection of Rangers fans acting all horrified over the prospect that the Devils might opt to select Kaapo Kakko first overall, thus allowing Jack Hughes to slide to the Blueshirts at No. 2.

Nico/Nolan? So far, the Swiss with the edge.

Tyler/Taylor? Still too close to call, the winger with a Hart but the center — a center — who has been healthier and has posted better numbers.

Jacko/Kakko? We’ll see.

Kakko's ridiculous goal Friday:

Anson Carter on Hughes:

I love Hughes and also feel he will need to get stronger but he has elite talent. Kakko clearly looks ready now and should be a sniper for years to comes. The player selected should be the one who the team feels is the most elite, regardless of position. Yes, a top center is needed and that likely somewhat outweighs the wing,. But if New Jersey believes Kakko is the better player now and for the future, then that's who they should pick.

I throw it out to the crowd, if the Rangers had the first overall pick, who would you take, Hughes of Kakko? In addition, if you had a choice of one being there at 2, presuming you view who you would take at 1 different that 2, who would you take? Weigh in with your pick and why.
