Kunin Impresses, Greenway, Donato Not So Much

As the Iowa Wild face elimination tonight in Rockford trailing their best if 7 series three games to two, there are a couple of concerns with the current NHL Wild players in the lineup.

Let's begin with Luke Kunin, who has been nothing short of what we have grown to expect from the kid. A professional who takes every opportunity to become better at his craft, growing into more of a leader every day.

The same cannot be said for Ryan Donato and Jordan Greenway, who by all accounts have been going through the motions.

Hey, I get it, an NHL player going to the AHL when his team has been eliminated from playoff eligibility may seem like a demotion. That of course is not the players choice and should never really be a factor in how the player performs.

To be an elite athlete or elite at anything, one must always have an edge and to stay on top, complacency cannot be allowed to enter into the equation.

Paul Fenton has remarked about Kunin's play, while remaining silent when it comes to Greenway and Donato. So my question is, has Fenton spoken with Greenway and Donato about what he expects from them and if so why is it not showing up on the ice?

The bigger question is that if these two are not willing to bring everything that they have, then why are they playing in the first place? A player that is not going all out is more susceptible to injury and developing bad habits than they player who risks it all playing to their highest level.

Here is hoping that message is made clear to two key pieces of the Wild future and they show up in force beginning tonight and moving forward.
