Jack Hughes is the guy this June. Everyone says it. Everyone believes it. Jack Hughes has shown moments of absolute brilliance this entire year. Despite his smaller size, few debate that Hughes is bordering on "Generational" status, with some scouts going so far as to put him on par or above Auston Matthews. Almost all scouts will get out of that question by saying, "Well they are very different players. Matthews is not afraid to muck it up and use his size, where Hughes uses speed and skill, more like McDavid."

All of this is true and I think Devils fans are going to love Jack Hughes for a long time....

Back in early April, I remember thinking, when the lottery came down to the Rangers and the Devils for the top pick, that the runner-ups future would be severely affected for years to come...But now, watching the consensus #2 pick Kaapo Kakko wow at the World Championships I believe the NY Metro area will for years be lodged in a debate over these two players and whether or not the Rangers may have won the lottery after all...

Kakko is phenomenal right now. He is leading all the World Championships in scoring with 5 points in two games. All Goals.. (Note as I am writing this Kakko is playing his third game versus Jack Hughes and Team USA)

And Kakko isn't just scoring, he is scoring spectacular goals and he is EVERYWHERE on the ice. In a tournament made up of some serious NHLers Kakko is purely power and total skill/work ethic. He is impossible to take off the puck. His dominance reminds me most of Elias Pettersson this past season. We have many great young Finns in the NHL and Kakko already looks as good if not better than any out there.

Could NJ look to Kakko?
