The 2019 IIHF World Hockey Championship has concluded and Finland came out on top.

Russia 3:2 Czech Republic:

The Russians were supposed to win the gold medals and it wasn't a longshot.. however due to their coaching incapabilities they were forced to play in the bronze medal game and even that didn't go as planned - the Red Machine managed to win the game in the shootout and only because of a strong performance by Tampa's own Andrei Vasilevsky.

Goals:
Grigorenko (Sergachev) 1:0
Repik (Sklenicka, Rutta) 1:1
Kubalik (Kovar, Gulas) 1:2
Anisimov (Gusev) 2:2
Kovalchuk (GWG in SO)

Canada 1:3 Finland

The projected top team and the unlikely finalists faced off in the gold medal game. While many expected Canada to run away with it.. things didn't go according to plan. At first they led but eventually, Marko Anttila decided to take the matters in his own hands which led the team he captained to an IIHF Gold medal.

Goals:
Theodore (Mantha, McCann) 1:0
Anttila (Manninen, Ojamaki) 1:1
Anttila (Savinainen) 1:2
Pesonen (Tyrvainen, Hakanpaa) 1:3

Mark Stone was named the tournaments MVP.
