* What do sports fans love to do more than anything? Complain. A lot. But, Boston sports fans are very different than most because of the success they have seen in recent years. There is almost an arrogance, and I mean that in the most endearing way possible.. They expect to win and you feel that in the building...Of course they still find some stuff to complain about, but it is very much muted by winning...
* The Blues defense is a joy to watch live. Even though they had a rough second period they still are amazing to watch...
* The Bruins had nothing going for the first 20 + minutes...But once they got going and believed they were great again they were deadly...There is a cockiness that Boston has above all other NHL teams. Once the Bruins believe they are better than you, they become the best team in the NHL.
* Binnington was pretty much amazing last night, but when a goalie doesn't see the offense creating like they should, it becomes hard not to "over-handle" and "over- play" the puck. And Binnington did alot of that once the game was 2-2.
*Brayden Schenn is a monster player. He plays amazing hockey in both ends of the ice and is the leader of the Bruins offense...He is rounding into a hell of a two-way player...
*We all know Marchand is a jerk on the ice, but he is also ridiculously talented and has a great knack for seeing how a play is developing before it happens.. Marchand is as skilled as they get and has the rare ability to lift his game to another level..
* There is all this talk that the Blues are screwed now because they blew the opportunity to catch Boston while they were rusty...Sure...that is true, but people are forgetting that this was the first NHL Stanley Cup Final game for almost every Blues player...And watching the game I felt they were a bit overwhelmed by the brevity of it all...That won't be the case in Game 2.
On Sheldon Keefe.
The Leafs have extended Sheldon Keefe for two years with the Marlies, after denying other teams the right to to him about an NHL head coaching job...Think about that for a second..
* Keefe is the most sought after coach not in the NHL and teams are ready to offer him a job
* The Leafs won't let him talk to teams...which you would think would probably piss off Keefe...
* Keefe today has agreed to coach the Marlies in the AHL for two more seasons...
* Keefe and Leafs GM Dubas are very tight and have a great working relationship
* Babcock and Dubas are at odds, and there is starting to surface that some in the Leafs organization question if Babcock's methods make sense in 2019 with the kinds of players Dubas is building up there...
It doesn't take much to connect the dots here...Keefe must know enough of something to extend with an organization that wouldn't let him go..
Tippett signs for Three Years in Edmonton...
Ken Holland got his guy. Dave Tippet was pretty happy working with Seattle, but Holland felt he was the only coach for these Oilers...So he got the deal done. This is why you pay all that money to Ken Holland...
NY Islanders and the Coliseum...
Was told that the Islanders and Nassau Coliseum have come to an agreement that the the Isles can play half their games in Uniondale for the next two seasons while the new building is being built.
