The Hawks have a pair of young blueliner prospects in Adam Boqvist and Henri Jokiharju that they may feel need more time, which may have led them to deal with Pittsburgh for Olli Maatta. Maatta has had injury problems, but is still 24 years old and has term left at just over $4 Million per season.

Pittsburgh gets 23-year-old Dominik Kahun, who is still on his ELC and gives Jim Rutherford more than $3 Million in additional cap space.
